AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES

NOTICE NO 1/1995

AVAILABILITY OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (MARITIME INDUSTRY) REGULATIONS

Copies of the Occupational Health and Safety (Maritime Industry) Regulations (Statutory Rule No 17 of 1995), (Catalogue No 95 4434 8) are now available from the Australian Government Publishing Service bookshops at a cost of $2.90 per copy.

The Regulations commenced on 14 February 1995.  

The majority of the Regulations concerns the form of notices and reports associated with the Occupational Health and Safety (Maritime Industry) Act 1993, as well as other requirements in relation to notices and reports.

Operators should take particular note of regulations 15 and 16 which require operators to:

·      keep copies of reports of accidents and dangerous occurrences for 5 years; and

·      provide statistical reports to the Authority annually. 

Form 1 (Provisional Improvement Notice) and Form 6 (Occupational Health and Safety Report) will be distributed to the maritime industry shortly.  In the meantime, the interim forms should continue to be used.
