
Under sections 28, 49 and 50 of the Seafarers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1992 the Minister has the power to specify a rate per kilometre of travel allowance to be paid to injured employees who use private motor vehicles for compensation-related purposes.
Travel allowance is not paid unless the length of the journey exceeds 50 kilometres.
The Minister has specified a rate of 30 cents per kilometre for these journeys, to commence on 1 July 1995.
