NOTICE NO 4/1995

  RATE OF TRAVEL ALLOWANCE FOR PRIVATE VEHICLES USED BY SEAFARERS FOR REHABILITATION AND COMPENSATION RELATED JOURNEYS

Under sections 28, 49 and 50 of the Seafarers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1992 the Minister has the power to specify a rate per kilometre of travel allowance to be paid to injured employees who use private motor vehicles for compensation-related purposes.

Travel allowance is not paid unless the length of the journey exceeds 50 kilometres.

The Minister has specified a rate of 30 cents per kilometre for these journeys, to commence on 1 July 1995.
