NOTICE TO MARITIME INDUSTRY ORGANISATIONS
AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES

NOTICE NO 1/1998

MAXIMUM LEVEL OF BENEFITS

Subsection 31(7) of the Seafarers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1992 provides that the maximum amount of weekly compensation payable after the first 45 weeks of incapacity is 150% of the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings of full-time Adults (AWOTEFA), as published from time to time by the Australian Statistician.

The AWOTEFA amount (issued by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on 5 March – catalogue number 6302.0) is $711.20.

Accordingly, from that date the maximum amount of weekly compensation payable after 45 weeks incapacity is $1,066.80 (150% x $711.20).
