Category 1 - Best Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program

This award recognises demonstrated excellence in the development and implementation of a successful workplace health and wellbeing program.

Assessment criteria

For entry in this category your submission must show the following:

1. What motivated the organisation to implement a health and wellbeing program?

2. How were employees and stakeholders engaged to identify relevant health and safety issues? How did they contribute to the program’s design, implementation and evaluation?

3. How did the organisation assess the health and wellbeing needs of their workforce, and develop an evidence-based program to meet these needs?

4. How is the program connected to the goals, core products, services and values of the organisation? How is this program acknowledged by leaders and communicated across the organisation?

5. What tangible support is provided (e.g. allocation of sufficient resources, staff, space, and time) to achieve the desired results?

6. What were the measures of success for the program and how well have they been achieved? In particular, has your investment in the program had a measurable impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals, workplace health and safety performance or the performance of the organisation?

7. How effective was the program in encouraging employees to take responsibility for personal health while ensuring that work environments—both physical and organisational—were improved to be more supportive of health and wellbeing?

8. How original and innovative was the program?

9. How does the program ensure a long-term outlook with sustainable improvements in workplace health and wellbeing for the organisation and its employees?

Supporting material can be supplied to assist in demonstrating claims to the above criteria. This could include but is not limited to performance data, staff survey results and other reporting information. A case study illustrating the initiation and set up of the program and learnings could also be provided.
