
All Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) are required by the Occupational Health and Safety (Maritime Industry) Act 1993 (OHS(MI) Act) to undertake a Seacare Authority accredited course of training relating to occupational health and safety. A course may be provided on a prescribed ship or prescribed unit.
The operator must permit the HSR to take such time off work, with out loss of remuneration or other entitlements, as is necessary to undertaking the training.
