Notifying Seacare of the intention to cease operations within the Seacare scheme

3 June 2024

Changes in the environmental and commercial landscape are having significant flow on effects to the Australian maritime industry, and we are seeing, as a consequence, changes in the participation of employers in the Seacare scheme. This includes commercial operations ceasing and the deregistration of companies under Australian corporate law.

The Seacare Authority asks that scheme operators notify the Seacare Authority of their intention to cease operations, including deregistration of a company. This will allow the Seacare Authority to take the actions it needs to ensure, among other things, that the workers’ compensation rights of employees are appropriately secured.

If you wish to discuss these requirements, please contact the Seacare Secretariat via email at seacare@comcare.gov.au.
