The 2014 Seacare Awards is a gala dinner event that will be held on the evening of Wednesday 10 September at Melbourne Town Hall. The evening will be hosted by Australian Olympian Kieren Perkins and brings together this year for the first time both the Seacare and Comcare Awards.

Seacare Authority's submission to Government Review
The Seacare Authority has made a submission to the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development in response to the Australian Government’sOptions Paper: Approaches to regulating coastal shipping in Australia which is available on the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development website.

The 2014 Seacare Conference and Awards are showcase events for the Seacare Authority and Australian maritime industry. We are pleased to announce that this year’s Conference and Awards will be held in September in Melbourne.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the Seafarers’ Forum held in Perth on 27 November 2013. The Seacare Authority appreciates the efforts of the speakers to produce presentations of such high quality. We were pleased to see so many delegates from across the maritime industry.

Update on the Seacare scheme review
Consultation and feedback into the report on the Review of the Seacare scheme has now closed.

Report on the Seacare review released
On 20 May 2013, the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Bill Shorten released the report of the Review of the Seacare scheme (the report).

On 30 March 2013, the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) released the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) Review report.

Major Reforms to Shipping Announced
On Friday 9 September 2011 the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, announced a package of reforms for the Australian shipping industry.

Provides best practice guidance on confined spaces training required under Regulation 4.28 of the Occupational Health and Safety (Maritime Industry) (National Standards) Regulations 2003.

As part of the development of the plan the Authority is seeking the views of stakeholders on how to best deliver on the objectives of the scheme.
The Authority has released an issues paper on the current influences on the scheme and is seeking feedback from stakeholders on a number of questions.

Winners announced in 2010 Seacare Awards
The Seacare Authority announced the winners of its 2010 Seacare Awards at a gala dinner event on Thursday 28 October 2010. Close to 150 guests attended this year's Awards night at MAIA at Central Pier in Melbourne's Dockland precinct.
